Buying Refrigerated Containers

Insulated refrigerated containers are designed for intermodal shipping, and can carry almost any type of goods that require cold storage in transit, including food ingredients, produce, flowers and plants, medicines, candies, confectionery and chocolates, and much more. Conversely, some SeaCube customers use reefers to prevent liquid products, beverages, medicines, and similar goods from freezing. SeaCube containers are of robust steel construction and come in several standard sizes.

In addition to shipping goods, reefers can also be used for temporary or semi-permanent storage space on your own property or at an outside location. They are suitable for storing perishable items and any other items that would benefit from cold storage to maintain freshness and product quality. They are strong, durable and secure with a simple, but effective locking mechanism. Our sophisticated temperature controlled containers have been used in static storage applications all over the world: in the Gulf of Mexico as food storage walk-in coolers on an oil rig, in the Middle East to store medical supplies, inside a meat packing facility in Newark, NJ to provide specific temperatures for the finest meats and poultry, and in Alaska to keep beverages from freezing.

Many distributors and retailers use reefers as temporary storage during peak seasonal purchase times and during expansion of operations. Others use reefers to support temporary facilities such as disaster recovery, state fairs, and other events. For container uses in temporary or semi-permanent storage and similar needs, SeaCube can work with you to arrange a purchase of refrigerated containers that will meet your financial and operational objectives.

SeaCube sells new and used containers to wholesalers and direct to retailers. Contact us with your needs and we will be happy to work with you!

Selection Guide for Refrigerated Containers

Reefers come in three standard sizes to maximize their international transportation interoperability. Users find these sizes very effective not only for shipping, but for storage uses as well. Choosing the right container size depends primarily on the volume of material to be held and on the desired ceiling height.
